3cBrown sugar
3/4cShortening
4 Eggs
5cFlour
3/4tsBaking soda
3/4tsCream tartar
1tsVanilla
  Filling; cook together:
1cDates
1/2cNuts
1/2cSugar
1/2cWater

Make into rolls and place in refrigerator for a few hours. Cut into thin slices and place cooled filling between slices. Bake in a slow oven.

Note: Slow oven is 300 - 350 F.
